Use lip liner shade that matches your natural lip color...
...with everything!

I don't mean throw away that great red liner you love to wear with red lipstick; BUT, you don't HAVE to match lip liner with your lipstick.   Lip liner helps shape your lip and keep the color from feathering.  In general, DRAWING your lip ON is aging.

By using a liner similar to your  lip color, you can correct imperfections and give yourself a more polished feminine look.  Lip liner is one of those tools you can even do without all together if you have great lips.  For instance, my sister has beautifully shaped full lips....she can throw on lipstick without a liner and look fantastic!

In contrast, I have to at least draw a slight cupids bow on my top lip in order for it to even look like it exist!  :-)
